Always developing INDIA - Part 2

I would recommend to read the previous blog before continuing to read this one.

DISCLAIMER: If you are a pure Indian and love India more than yourself then the content might be sensitive. Read at your own risk. Also when I say India, most of the time I might be referring to Bangalore and generalizing (I may be wrong). Reader discretion is advised.

There are several infinite reasons to state why India is far behind in basic amenities compared to other countries. Earlier I use to think, the only reason behind this is "Excessive population in India". I thought, resources in this country is very less compared to the number of people available and this shortage is pulling our country behind. If we could control population, then we will soon be developing quickly. For long time, I thought this is the root problem but then started to think, this is not the only one. The other one is “corruption". People over here are addicted to corruption. If India goes in similar direction, then I will not be surprised if corruption becomes legal in near future. Especially govt. employees are pre-assumed that without getting money they’ll not work. Are they forgetting that they are getting salary or they assume salary is a bonus which comes every month? I just don’t blame them, even people (including me) will pre-assume and give money to them even if they don’t ask and get the work done! Why? Probably because it has become habit to the giver and taker! That’s what I said, sooner if it becomes legal, I won’t be surprised!

After population & corruption, I added “Politics” into my list of why India is the way it is! Politics is very dirty in our country. You may argue about, “You are wrong, its getting better now with AAP being selected etc etc”. But personally I still don’t have much of any hope. Somewhere, someone has selected AAP which most of the people are thinking is as a good sign for politics & a huge success. But what people ignore is that it is a very basic thing to happen. I don’t understand the reason of celebration. The whole idea of voting is to elect the best one and our thinking/satisfaction is so low that if we do that (electing good one), then we are celebrating! OH MAN, what about infinite issues to fix after getting elected? If we are so satisfied by just electing a good political leader, then don’t you think how low is our success rate attitude towards politics? I guess, In developed countries, the thinking of success rate attitude is like, How far is this elected person (who is pre-assumed is the bestest one) going to lead and resolve issues by maintaining equilibrium, not happy just to get him elected!

Next to my list is ‘education’ What the hell is education in this country? Ah? At cities, its all about by-hearting everything and getting good marks and at other side of villages, no education at all. The fee for a child to get into a so called ‘good educational institute’ is equivalent to an IT engineer monthly salary! Other end, govt. gives food during lunch time to attract children’s to school. Forget what will children be getting to learn over there! Why is this situation in our country? I’m not telling, all institutions are like this, coz IIM’s are really very good where even foreign student’s want to study but won’t get selected! But why isn’t there any equality? That’s the big question which leads to the conclusion of this blog. Will get back to it later but for a better county, education is very essential for every children (and they aren’t getting & if at all getting, its not THE best) as the saying goes, today’s children are tomorrow’s citizen’s!

Next thing in my list is “villages”. I don’t believe country is developed until and unless villages are developed at first. No matter, how much ever you keep on adding facilities to the cities but unless village’s aren’t improved, there is absolutely no chance of improving country. The main focus must be on villages to get developed! The people over there are so adjusted with it that they don’t even know what facilities mean! They are at a position where they don’t even want good facilities anymore (completely adjusted with however it is) It’s very sad and somehow they should be educated and must be provided with relevant information!

Another big monster in our country is caste, religion & discrimination. I don’t understand, we highlight this monster as “unity in diversity” but hell is that! Has anybody thought how much it is dragging our country back! What the hell do you call unity man? Forget about caste, religion, people discriminate with states over here! How do you define THIS? If some Andhra person is in Bangalore, he prefer other Andhra people and vice versa. We literally discriminate among different states and have issue to resolve that first! Forget about religion, caste etc! OMG! When do you think, people will be so much educated to not discriminate anymore with at least states? According to me, we are staying together with various religions and caste and creed which doesn’t mean we are with UNITY. We just have DIVERSITY and that’s all. If being like this is UNITY, then I guess, we need to re-look at the dictionary meaning of word “unity”! I am so off with the thought of just discriminating people with states, that I’m not going to waste letters in typing about caste & religion!

Next and final one is the social status or the people attitude is what I recently discovered after returning back from Taipei is major reason to pull our country backwards! The problem with indian society is what I call “imbalance”. If somebody is rich, then he is way too rich and if somebody is poor, he is way too poor. This imbalance is the devil which is spoiling our country! We don’t have equality. The attitude difference between Taipei city & over here is that MONEY is EVERYTHING, bhaad mein jaye ‘integrity’ or quality of what you do, its only about MONEY. The one who has sufficient money can RULE india on his terms which is not the case in other countries. I am not telling non-indian’s doesn’t care for money but its not how indian’s are crazy about it. To just give an example, a cab driver over there cares for his job & integrity of his work than money unlike in India! Here, people are ready to rip money out of anybody. They don’t have that integrity within himself of the professionalism of what he is doing! If you call a plumber or carpenter over here for example, they don’t focus on how good to work or about their work integrity but they only try to do little work and get most money out of it! If you ask a little bit extra to do, then they charge way too much! Consider a bus conductor over here, he tries to make money without giving tickets. What about his professionalism or work integrity? Is he supposed to do like that? Go to some education center, they always try to charge heavy and get most of the money out of you! Why?

Can’t everybody in India focus on their profession or work integrity and charge equivalent to their work’s ‘worth’? Why do they have to rip off money from next individual? To answer that, we need to circle off the whole list what I mentioned above! To sustain in this society, where there isn’t proper balance, filled with corruption & discrimination with huge population including illiteracy, every individual is blindfolded to one thing, which is MONEY and everybody is chasing before that!

In Taipei, there is equality for every profession! For example, a person working as a gatekeeper in front of a museum is having almost similar pay as a person who is barber! The same applies for a person working in police department with a person working in grocery shop or a cab driver or even an IT professional. The key point is, although there might be a very slight difference in pay (not huge) but every profession is valued equally over there. But in India, as I said, huge imbalance. Only few professions like IT /doctors are paid huge. If you do a BA or BCom or BSc, then you are considered low and discriminated! You cannot get a job to get sufficient money and get respect like doctors. This is a huge let down! I have been thinking about this a lot. For example, it starts from childhood, when parents/society starts to show this imbalance. If that child is interested in doing a mechanical job then soon child will realize or parents/society will make it clear that there isn’t any scope for it unlike some other high professions and child is forced to develop out of his interest and get into profession just to earn huge money. Suppose, if a kid would like to cut hairs of people and design, then in India, he is made ashamed of himself that will you become “BARBER”! They will laugh which makes kid to forget what he likes and tries to do what everybody does (out of interest). I can give several such examples, as a kid, I aspired & wanted to become a driver! I loved driving and but sooner I realized, how pity life is of a bus driver or cab driver in INDIA and I just forgot and left that thought! I can give several examples of this professional discrimination! In india, someone has become a teacher because he didn’t get into IT. What the HELL? Do you think, if somebody keeps doing like this then they’ll be giving their 100% and follow professionalism and work integrity? HELL NO! Similarly, somebody opens a shop because he might not be able to do anything else. Similarly somebody joins as bus conductor, coz he is not getting any suitable job etc etc etc. The main point is, we need to grow into such a level that we have to respect all the professions and treat them equally and make a flat pay to everyone! Untill this happens, I certainly don’t think, india will ever develop and forget about this this happening even until my grand children’s era!

Blog is getting way too lengthier and I’m sure you might be bored reading till this line so I will cut short few more things which I wanted to tell. Another biggest issue with our country is Indian Law. I’ll just say that it is so much damn spoiled and useless that the great Salman khan is still making films wandering freely over the indian streets by earning millions together even after killing people on road accident! We Indians are so much careless and hopeless that we don’t even bother that he is the one who had killed people for fun with drink and drive. We still enjoy his movies and just forget nicely and discuss, salman’s next movie will cross 200crore! SHIT!!! As I said, money rules india. If he just throws 5% of his earnings, nobody bothers about the case & he is SUPERSTAR! This is our great India!

Another concept is bloody hereditary money! India MUST make a rule that parents money should not be given to children! According to me, due to this concept, india is lagging. One corrupted person will earn sufficient for his next 5-6 generations and spoils the whole generations! I would not like to write more about it, you just think about it. Like Bachan or Ambani family. How much do you think they must have earned? Even for next 10 generations, their family can easily survive without earning a single penny! So forget about india becoming developed until for next 10 generations IFF we get this hereditary concept removed right now!

Well, I’m so much caught into this subject that I’m bragging ON and ON and ON. You know, how they say in relationship that you hate or get angry on somebody only because you love them. Taking liberty and applying the same rule over here, I suppose, I must have loved my country so much that I am this much angry and hating it after returning back from Taipei! But at last, No matter how spoiled my country is or let whatever happens to it in future, I still love India. Mera BHARAT Mahan!

Always developing INDIA - Part 1

DISCLAIMER: If you are a pure Indian and love India more than yourself then the content might be sensitive. Read at your own risk. Also when I say India, most of the time I might be referring to Bangalore and generalizing (I may be wrong). Reader discretion is advised.

During initial days of my stay in Taipei during last month, my thoughts were like typical Indian and always use to get excited on how clean, advanced, organized Taipei city IS compared to India. But as days passed, my thought process dissolved completely with the life style of Taipei and forgot comparing it back to India.

My thoughts started to grow back rapidly when my flight landed back to Bangalore International airport on children's day. I was back to India after a wonderful, memorable business trip of high class life style of 28 days (almost a month) and as soon I exited out of airport, it seemed like I woke up from my sleep where I was dreaming that I was living at Taipei from past 28 days! My thoughts started to swirl, comparing India with Taipei. Actually, I have been to one just small city in Taiwan and there are several other similar countries which are much ahead of us. I started to wonder what is India and Indian people doing. They say, India is a developing country and soon will be a developed country. Damn them! After children's day, I don't believe any of that crap. According to me, India will always be developing country. It’s sad & rude but true.

The roads, footpaths, traffic rules, shops, buildings, transportation services like MRT, busses then houses, restaurants and even the boards, advertisement are digital! OMG, its like heaven. Lastly, most important of all these, PEOPLE, they are awesome and are real GEM. They are way ahead and much more organized than we can ever imagine. We cannot compare ourselves with them at all. It’s foolish of ourselves to compare and feel proud. Earlier I use to hear people mentioning, foreign countries might be more advanced, but we have our rich tradition, culture, unity in diversity (all that crap) which they don’t have! I totally disagree that. Even taipei people have their own very rich tradition, culture etc which the people from I had heard didn’t knew! We think, we are the only one having this. Foolish! I would suggest to step out of country and have a look (don’t be a frog in a well)

You know, people over there, wear mask in public if they have cold/cough to avoid spreading it to other surrounding people (I cannot compare this with indian people whatsoever, impossible), all shops, bus, trains, cabs etc everything have Air Conditioners (here, shops doesn’t even have fan, forget about rest all things to compare). As I said, everything is DIGITAL over there! All name plates, boards etc. Big big LCD TVs on roads with Ads (here hard to find LCD TV’s in most of the houses, forget about in public. First think of electricity waste is what comes in mind!). It has a very minimal crime rate. I use to wonder police department is simply paid for sitting idle over there and here other than salary, most police get money under table not to work and sit idle! Uff… I can’t type much. Its very hard and unfair to compare!

With my observation after returning back, I strongly believe that: “India will never become at least 50% of what Taipei city is as of today (2013) even during my grandchildren's era! So forget of when India will become how Taipei will be in my grandchildren's era!” The implication of "my grandchildren" is just to refer a timeline of two generations. I insist to understand by reading this paragraph again.

What is the problem with India? Can’t we be like them? It might be harsh, but I say, NO, we cannot! How do I and where do I begin to justify my answer! Oh man. India is flooded with lack of basic stuffs food, cloth, house then education, corruption, terrorism, religious racism, what not, ah? They are in a position where they don’t even know most of such problems could exist!

I am sure, you must be aware of recent ATM incident where an innocent woman in Bangalore was brutally hurt by a man. I was shocked by watching the video on YouTube and couldn't stop thinking about it for few nights (probably because it happened right after few days I was back from Taipei). If I hadn't been out of India, then I might not have thought about it much and would not have mentioned here as an example.

Last week on sunday night around 9:50PM i came out to have dinner and after i paid my bill, i was left with exactly 5/- in my wallet. I checked about nearest ATM to that hotel and went there. It was almost 10:10PM and no security guard and it was in some closed complex and it was dark over there. I SCARED and came back without going to ATM even i wanted money!

Why am i telling this? Because I bloody got scared while in actual it must be the other way round. I mean, people are getting scared to take money out of ATM and not getting scared to hurt and make one more similar incident. Problem is that people's attitude of thinking, these things are common! What the HELL man? What is COMMON! We are bound to just ignore such things encouraging crime.

According to me, the police force, CBI force, every damn force should hunt that man with all their resource and severely punish him so that people must scare to do such things in future (not scare to take money out of ATM) There are several incidents much serious than this and criminals are walking freely by escaping from Inidan law loop holes. (concept of DEXTER) Oh man, don't get me started with indian law now! I can write a separate blog about it!

So finally, i'm not sure what to conclude over here. I think, think, think but still not clear on how to conclude about this topic in a hypothetical yet logical manner. Trust me i tried hard to conclude but i can't. Hopefully in next blog i might think of something and give a conclusion?

My Childhood Myths

Remember when we were children and slowly we had begun to start thinking on our own using our little brain to understand the ways and working of life and surrounding things. Well, if you remember that, it was fun, isn't it? Without knowing much but trying to come up with our own way of nice made up assumptions. Those all assumptions will be right till we start growing up. Eventually as we start growing up, we begin to realize how wrong we were back then. I call those childhood earlier assumptions, which we would have made up to confront our self as 'myths'. I'm sure we all have our own several childhood myths, right? I would like to recollect and list few of mine.

Grocery shopkeeper is the richest person
There is a grocery shop near to my home, where since from my childhood till today, I visit to get daily household groceries. During my childhood days when I use to visit this shop with a bag in hand and waiting for my turn, I use to think, we all have to pay this shopkeeper and take stuffs to home but he can get anything from the shop to his home for free. No need to pay money! I use to feel jelous and admire him on how lucky HE is. So according to me, he was lucky and richest person I knew :)

Actors change costumes during song
I think, this is a common myth which most of us use to have during our childhood, right? Unlike today’s songs, during early 90’s, the songs were very simple (both audio and video) with maximum of 2 or 3 costumes and locations in one song. Whenever I use to see video songs in chitrahaar or rangoli or chitramanjiri, I use to wonder, how come hero/heroine changes there dress so quickly? It use to amuse me and I use to confront myself thinking that they put one dress above another etc  and when camera is not on them, they quickly strip the current dress one after other until song ends or when it’s their last dress :) Not to forget, one more myth on same topic which I believed is that hero/heroine sing songs and deliver the dialogues on their own. I never had an idea or thought about dubbing!

Newsreader is very good at by-hearting and she is LIVE
Till today on DD1, right at 7PM, there is 15mins Kannada news show since from my childhood. I use to literally think that the news reader by-hearts all the news and tells us LIVE sitting somewhere. I use to wonder a lot, how come she doesn’t even miss a single day to make her appearance at exactly 7PM. What if she has a function to attend or have some urgent work at 7PM, what will happen to news and who will tell the news? I use to wonder a lot! Do you think during that small age, I use to watch news to understand what’s going? Certainly NOT. I use to sit with my grandfather (he was very punctual to watch it every day) and observe newsreader if she makes mistake or forgets and looks below quickly to remember back. I use to say aloud, CHEATING-CHEATING-CHEATING, she looked down :)

God creates rain.
How rain comes? This question is common, isn’t it? I use to think that God creates rain because we drink water and utilize all the water and lakes and river gets empty. To re-fill them back, God creates rain! LoL. Some times I also use to think that somebody (God) who is above sky is crying and that itself is rain :)

Turning ON and OFF of Street lights
Have you ever wondered in childhood about streetlights? I always use to think, how come street lights get turned ON exactly when evening is saying good bye and turns back OFF in the morning. Who controls those lights? I confronted myself that whoevers home is near to that particular street light, they will have switch to turn ON and OFF that particular street light. But then later, when a street light near to our home didn’t had control in either our house or in any of the neighbor’s house, I confronted myself that, somebody like municipality will control street lights to turn ON and OFF at appropriate times. I thought, due to controlling turning on and off of streetlights all at once by municipality, all the street lights are connected with wires :)

A little man is inside our stomach
I use to wonder, how come I come to know that I’m hungry? I never use to understand how my stomach knows that it is empty and got hungry. I use to confront myself, that there is a little man in everybody’s stomach and he signals us that stomach is empty and we are hungry. LoL

Teacher knows everything in this world
During my very initial school days, I still remember, the effect of teacher on myself and other children. Whenever any child use to ask, any question about anything, my teacher use to give convincing answer. She never says, I don’t know the answer! During those days, I thought my teacher knows everything and she is the most intelligent person who knows everything.

Well, I can go on and on about my childhood myths but I’ll stop and would like to request you to take some time out of your busy schedule and think about any of your childhood myths like how I listed above and comment below about it (too much to ask?) anyways, forget about commenting but at least promise me that you’ll seriously think and recollect/remember about your childhood myths and enjoy them thus realizing how fantastic CHILDHOOD was with all the innocence. Keep in mind that no matter how much you earn or what all you do, we can never get back that golden era. So I would suggest not forgetting about remembering and feeling happy about childhood once in a while in this adulthood which is always filled with stressful life.

Tech-analogy

August month was very busy and lengthy for me. I couldn't get much time to write blog. Getting busier day-by-day but somehow still managed to write this blog for this month. Aha I'll not give up easily :)

These days I’m thinking of starting another blog named “Tech-analogy”.  This blog is about analogy of technical things which I think of. Whenever I start to master about some technical concept, I generally have my own good examples in common day-to-day activities to explain and make it understand to somebody who doesn’t have any technical background. That is, I will try to make analogy of day-to-day life examples to understand about the technical concept.

Earlier in the last week, my grandmother asked me, what exactly do I work on? Just to give you a background, she just studied Kannada medium till class 2 or 3 and doesn’t know English. She even can’t pronounce ‘Software Engineer’ when somebody asks, what does your grandson or granddaughter do in Bangalore! She spells usually as "Staffware Engineer" or "Stofware Engineer". For her, how can I explain what I work on? Or What is a software? Or What is a hardware? Or What is a device driver? Or What is Customer Support? etc. The intention of her asking to know what exactly do I work was so genuine but at the same time very difficult to explain. Somehow, I don’t know from where but I got wonderful thoughts or analogy that I explained bit-by-bit and byte-by-byte about most of the stuffs with a classic example of building house. Now if someone has enough time and ask her what your grandchildren do, then I’m sure she will be explaining with full detail :P

Not only this, but few day’s back, my school friend, who is from non-technical background asked me a question - What is this 'android'? I use on mobile and hear lot about it everywhere but I don’t know what it is. I too talk about it but I don’t clearly know what exactly is android.

Now for me or for us (who work on it) we will be so much involved in working that we fail to define what it is? When he asked this question I was stuck. Literally stuck for 2mins on how to explain or tell him. Then I took an example of transportation service and tried explaining him. I hope he understood.

Many times I have come across in a situation to explain concepts like Virtual Memory (as Bank), Cache Operations (as stationery/grocery shop), Scheduler (as a doctor clinic) etc to some less technical person and have explained them with nice analogies so as they understand the concept very well.

Similarly there are in-numerous examples when some technical concept is supposed to be explained to a non-technical person, excellent analogy pops up right into my head. So I thought of capturing these analogies in a blog. Initially I thought to update them on this blog itself as its title says, “My Thoughts” but later felt lets separate it out with another blog with new cool new name as “Tech-analogy”.

You might be wondering, what will be new for me to read in this tech-analogy blog if I already knew the technical concept very well. Then I would say to read for the sake that if someone asks you  as what is ‘this’ or how does ‘this’ work etc then you can get some ideas from my examples in the blog to share and make them understand. or else i would say to read just for time pass and to increase my blog hit count ;)

Well, just to re-iterate, I still don’t know whether to start this new blog or not as I already told in beginning that I’m not getting enough time these days to maintain this current blog itself. So lets see what best i can do. Should i keep explaining the examples/analogy of technical concept and try forget them or make a little effort and try to capture them into a blog as reference!

Happy Life or Meaningful Life?

All these time, I had only known that our life must be filled with happiness. The ideal expectation from life of each individual is ‘happine...
