So many 'ME'

This is just one of the days when I feel weird but in a funny way. I actually do not know what is so amusing.
It is at times like these that I start thinking of things which probably have no end to them. How many of us are actually there? I mean how many “me”s and “u”s are there? How many of us are actually “us” with everyone?
I agree that everyone has many facets to their personality but that makes me think which one of those is the real one. Personally, I have many friends. Funny thing, the kind of interaction I have with each of them is soooo different from the other.
So, do people get to choose which character they want to be everyday? It is really interesting if we think about it. I can decide to be a complete gloomy person at work today and then come home and act as if I am the happiest person on earth
Forget that.. look around you. Who is actually being themselves? I bet it is very few. The same person when in an upscale restaurant will act differently when compared to when he is in a dhaba I can think of innumerable examples depicting the same thing. There is a certain amount of adjustment, growing up and maturity that each of us get depending on the people, place and age. But among all this, I am afraid that we tend to lose who we really are. This change comes along naturally to some and for some, it is induced because they don’t want to be left alone and want to be a part of the crowd.
Guess the recent trend of finding peace in the mountains is one of the ways to getting in touch with the real you. Life would be so much more simpler if we were just one true person and didn’t lose it in the battle of fitting in with everyone. Who created everyone anyway? We did..
I am sure it is not as easy as I am making it sound. But atleast there can be a start. Stop confusing yourself by being so many of you and just get the real you out there and not bother if you are or not a part of the crowd for being that. The people who accept you are your friends and the ones who don’t were never in the first place.
May be, that is why my favorite line has always been “be yourself !!!”

PS: Honestly, this is not my blog. This is my cousin sis(stays in US). I too just think the same way, but wasn't able to express it properly. She did. Thanks. The original link is over here

  1. Dude what has been written is absolutely correct but we need to act according to the situation as i think... U have to be professional when u r at work and a friendly person outside.
Life is full of compromises dude no one can be happy to the fullest.
But i didn't mean that we should loose ourself for others...

  3. wonderfully written..! kudos..! if i may add on..
nothing we get is for free. we compromise coz we r getting something out of it.
the day u can surely say i dont want anything from this world u can be the way u want to be. u can say "u idiot" to ur boss that day if u really felt he is. but its not something we want either, if we manage to cut off from world i dont think we would be too happy! n since we cant isolate ourselves thats where compromises come in, n u tend to deviate from what u really r.. but what we can do is finding the balance. we need to know when not let ourselves go, or when not to make compromise. i feel this defines being ourselves.
