My Childhood Myths

Remember when we were children and slowly we had begun to start thinking on our own using our little brain to understand the ways and working of life and surrounding things. Well, if you remember that, it was fun, isn't it? Without knowing much but trying to come up with our own way of nice made up assumptions. Those all assumptions will be right till we start growing up. Eventually as we start growing up, we begin to realize how wrong we were back then. I call those childhood earlier assumptions, which we would have made up to confront our self as 'myths'. I'm sure we all have our own several childhood myths, right? I would like to recollect and list few of mine.

Grocery shopkeeper is the richest person
There is a grocery shop near to my home, where since from my childhood till today, I visit to get daily household groceries. During my childhood days when I use to visit this shop with a bag in hand and waiting for my turn, I use to think, we all have to pay this shopkeeper and take stuffs to home but he can get anything from the shop to his home for free. No need to pay money! I use to feel jelous and admire him on how lucky HE is. So according to me, he was lucky and richest person I knew :)

Actors change costumes during song
I think, this is a common myth which most of us use to have during our childhood, right? Unlike today’s songs, during early 90’s, the songs were very simple (both audio and video) with maximum of 2 or 3 costumes and locations in one song. Whenever I use to see video songs in chitrahaar or rangoli or chitramanjiri, I use to wonder, how come hero/heroine changes there dress so quickly? It use to amuse me and I use to confront myself thinking that they put one dress above another etc  and when camera is not on them, they quickly strip the current dress one after other until song ends or when it’s their last dress :) Not to forget, one more myth on same topic which I believed is that hero/heroine sing songs and deliver the dialogues on their own. I never had an idea or thought about dubbing!

Newsreader is very good at by-hearting and she is LIVE
Till today on DD1, right at 7PM, there is 15mins Kannada news show since from my childhood. I use to literally think that the news reader by-hearts all the news and tells us LIVE sitting somewhere. I use to wonder a lot, how come she doesn’t even miss a single day to make her appearance at exactly 7PM. What if she has a function to attend or have some urgent work at 7PM, what will happen to news and who will tell the news? I use to wonder a lot! Do you think during that small age, I use to watch news to understand what’s going? Certainly NOT. I use to sit with my grandfather (he was very punctual to watch it every day) and observe newsreader if she makes mistake or forgets and looks below quickly to remember back. I use to say aloud, CHEATING-CHEATING-CHEATING, she looked down :)

God creates rain.
How rain comes? This question is common, isn’t it? I use to think that God creates rain because we drink water and utilize all the water and lakes and river gets empty. To re-fill them back, God creates rain! LoL. Some times I also use to think that somebody (God) who is above sky is crying and that itself is rain :)

Turning ON and OFF of Street lights
Have you ever wondered in childhood about streetlights? I always use to think, how come street lights get turned ON exactly when evening is saying good bye and turns back OFF in the morning. Who controls those lights? I confronted myself that whoevers home is near to that particular street light, they will have switch to turn ON and OFF that particular street light. But then later, when a street light near to our home didn’t had control in either our house or in any of the neighbor’s house, I confronted myself that, somebody like municipality will control street lights to turn ON and OFF at appropriate times. I thought, due to controlling turning on and off of streetlights all at once by municipality, all the street lights are connected with wires :)

A little man is inside our stomach
I use to wonder, how come I come to know that I’m hungry? I never use to understand how my stomach knows that it is empty and got hungry. I use to confront myself, that there is a little man in everybody’s stomach and he signals us that stomach is empty and we are hungry. LoL

Teacher knows everything in this world
During my very initial school days, I still remember, the effect of teacher on myself and other children. Whenever any child use to ask, any question about anything, my teacher use to give convincing answer. She never says, I don’t know the answer! During those days, I thought my teacher knows everything and she is the most intelligent person who knows everything.

Well, I can go on and on about my childhood myths but I’ll stop and would like to request you to take some time out of your busy schedule and think about any of your childhood myths like how I listed above and comment below about it (too much to ask?) anyways, forget about commenting but at least promise me that you’ll seriously think and recollect/remember about your childhood myths and enjoy them thus realizing how fantastic CHILDHOOD was with all the innocence. Keep in mind that no matter how much you earn or what all you do, we can never get back that golden era. So I would suggest not forgetting about remembering and feeling happy about childhood once in a while in this adulthood which is always filled with stressful life.

Happy Life or Meaningful Life?

All these time, I had only known that our life must be filled with happiness. The ideal expectation from life of each individual is ‘happine...
